Vancouver Blazers

VANCOUVER BLAZERS was a professional HOCKEY team in the World Hockey Assoc, a league formed in 1971 to rival the NHL. The Philadelphia Blazers was one of the original WHA teams but had a dismal first season 1972–73 and moved to VANCOUVER when it was bought by entrepreneur Jim PATTISON. Sharing ice time at the PACIFIC COLISEUM with the NHL VANCOUVER CANUCKS, the Blazers missed the playoffs under coaches Andy Bathgate (1973–74) and Joe Crozier (1974–75) before moving to Calgary in 1975.
