Vedder/Chilliwack River


VEDDER/CHILLIWACK RIVER flows 100 km from CHILLIWACK LK through the Skagit Range of the CASCADE MTS to join the Sumas R shortly before it merges with the FRASER R west of CHILLIWACK. The upper portion (60 km) is known as the Chilliwack R; the lower portion (40 km) was named the Vedder (after an early Dutch settler) when it was rerouted as part of the Sumas Reclamation Scheme in 1922.
