Vesak, Norbert


VESAK, Norbert, choreographer (b 22 Oct 1936, Port Moody; d 1990, Charlotte, NC). Trained as a dancer in the US and England, he returned to VANCOUVER in the early 1960s. He was choreographer at the VANCOUVER PLAYHOUSE, then in 1969 he launched his own DANCE company, Western Dance Theatre. The company folded in 1971 during its second season. The Royal Winnipeg Ballet commissioned him to create a multimedia dance piece based on George RYGA's play The Ecstasy of Rita Joe. It was also with the RWB...
