Waddington, Alfred Pendrell


WADDINGTON, Alfred Pendrell, entrepreneur (b 6 Oct 1801, London, England; d 27 Feb 1872, Ottawa). Educated in Germany and France, he was involved in a series of failed business ventures before immigrating in 1850 to California. There he prospered as a grocery merchant during the GOLD RUSH.
