Walbran Valley

WALBRAN VALLEY is a watershed on the west side of VANCOUVER ISLAND adjacent to the WEST COAST TRAIL south of NITINAT LK. It is an area of luxurious old-growth FOREST mainly of Sitka SPRUCE and western HEMLOCK. In 1990 the first recorded marbled MURRELET nest in BC was found here. The lower portion was included along with the neighbouring CARMANAH VALLEY as part of the 164.5 sq km Carmanah Walbran Provincial PARK in 1995.
