Whytecliffe


WHYTECLIFFE is a small seaside community in HOWE SOUND, just west of HORSESHOE BAY. In 1870 Howe Sound COPPER Mines Ltd began MINING at the site, known as White Cliff Point, and the mine produced for several years. WhyteCliff Park Resort, named for one of the owners, Col Albert Whyte, began operations in Horseshoe Bay in 1909, and when the Pacific Great Eastern Rwy (see BC RAIL) arrived in 1914 the station was named Whytecliff.
