Science World BC

SCIENCE WORLD BC is a science and technology centre overlooking FALSE CRK in downtown VANCOUVER. It offers educational exhibits to the general public. Originally a partnership of the Junior League of Greater Vancouver and the City of Vancouver, it began operations as the Arts, Sciences & Technology Centre in Jan 1982 in a downtown storefront on Granville St. In 1988 it moved to its permanent location in the former Expo Centre (see EXPO 86) geodesic dome. A refurbished and expanded Science World BC opened on 6 May 1989. It includes 5 main galleries, 2 presentation stages and the ALCAN Omnimax Theatre, featuring one of the largest domed screens in the world. The centre has community extension programs that serve the entire province.
