Argenta

ARGENTA , pop 150, is a community overlooking the northeast corner of KOOTENAY LK north of KASLO. It developed as an AGRICULTURAL centre in the early 20th century, producing fruit and vegetables for nearby MINING camps. For many years it was accessible only by steamboat. A Quaker community dates back to 1952.
