BC POWER COMMISSION was a public utility created in 1945 by the John HART government to provide electricity to rural areas ignored by the province's main electrical producer, BC ELECTRIC RWY CO. BC Power built and operated several plants around the province including the Puntledge R near COURTENAY and the John Hart development near CAMPBELL RIVER.
