BAILEY, Nathaniel Ryal "Nat," restaurateur (b 31 Jan 1902, St Paul, MN; d 27 Mar 1978, Vancouver). His mother was a cook in railway eating houses; his father worked in carnivals. In 1911 the Baileys moved to VANCOUVER from Seattle. By age 12 Nat was selling newspapers on city streets. Later he sold peanuts, and at age 18 he moved his peanut stand to Athletic Park and added hot dogs and beverages.
