Balkind, Alvin


BALKIND, Alvin, art curator, writer (b 28 Mar 1921, Baltimore, MD; d 21 Dec 1992, Vancouver). Educated at Johns Hopkins Univ and the Sorbonne, he served in the US navy during WWII. After moving to VANCOUVER in 1955, he and Abraham Rogatnick opened the New Design Gallery, which became a centre of contemporary art.
