BELL-IRVING, Henry Ogle "H.O.," businessman (b 26 Jan 1856, Lockerbie, Scotland; d 19 Feb 1931, Vancouver). After his father died, the family moved to Germany where he trained as a civil engineer. He immigrated to Canada in 1882 to work on the survey for the CPR. When the track reached SALMON ARM in 1885 he decided to quit and walk to GRANVILLE (Vancouver), but along the way he was set upon and robbed, and when he arrived at the coast he was destitute.
