BERGER, Mitch, football player (b 24 June 1972, Kamloops). Raised in N DELTA, he was drafted as a punter and kickoff man out of the Univ of Colorado by the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles in 1994. After being cut from the team, he tried out for the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts before earning a starting position with the Minnesota Vikings in 1996. In Minnesota he developed into one of FOOTBALL's best kickers. In 1998 he set an NFL record by forcing 40 touchbacks from his kickoffs, and in 1999...
