Blackbird


BLACKBIRD is the common name for several medium-sized songbirds usually found congregated in large, noisy flocks. They have sharp, pointed beaks and feed primarily on grain, seeds, fruit and INSECTS. Four species occur in BC. Red-winged blackbirds (Agelaius phoeniceus) inhabit colonies in cattail marshes where the male has a harem of nesting females and raucously defends a particular breeding territory.
