BLOMFELD, James, stained-glass designer (b 1872, Maidenhead, England; d 1951, Toronto). In 1889 he arrived in BC, where his father Henry Bloomfield established a plumbing and art glass business in NEW WESTMINSTER with his two sons, James (who later altered his last name as a tribute to his English ancestors) and Charles. From the first, James provided the design talent. He pursued art glass studies in New Orleans and England during 1894–98 and returned to BC just months before the family...
