Bridesville


BRIDESVILLE, pop 66, is a community near the US border east of OSOYOOS. First called Maud after the wife of the first settler, Hosie Edwards, it was just a stop on the wagon road between ROCK CREEK and Osoyoos until the GREAT NORTHERN RWY arrived in 1905. Two years later a customs post opened. The station was renamed after David McBride, who opened the post office and the grand Bridesville Hotel in 1910.
