Bridgman, Mel


BRIDGMAN, Mel, hockey player (b 28 Apr 1955, Trenton, ON). He was the first BC HOCKEY player drafted first overall in the NHL entry draft. Raised in VICTORIA, he played a season for the BC JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE's NANAIMO Clippers before joining the VICTORIA COUGARS of the WHL in 1973. In his second season he led the league with 157 points and tied Bryan Trottier as its all-star centre. The Philadelphia Flyers selected Bridgman in the 1975 entry draft and he joined their lineup the next season....
