BRILL, Debbie, high jumper (b 10 Mar 1953, Mission). From 1969 to the mid-1980s she was Canada's leading female high jumper and one of the best in the world. Using her unique reverse roll, the "Brill Bend," she won gold medals at the 1970 and 1982 Commonwealth Games, the 1971 Pan American Games and the 1979 World Cup, a silver medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games and a bronze at the 1979 Pan Am Games.
