Brownsville


BROWNSVILLE, across the FRASER R from NEW WESTMINSTER, was the site of a hotel and saloon built by Ebenezer Brown, a pioneer farmer, in 1861. Marshall ENGLISH opened a fish cannery in 1877 (see SALMON CANNING). Before the construction of the first bridge it was connected to New Westminster by ferry.
