Buick

BUICK, pop 100, is a small farming settlement and BC RAIL station 60 km north of FORT ST JOHN in the PEACE R district and the site of BC's northernmost grain elevator. North of this point, farming is not possible except on a small scale (see AGRICULTURE). The community was established in 1964 when Miro Fibich opened a store and gas station. Ranching (see CATTLE INDUSTRY), trapping and LOGGING are also important in the area.
