Bungee Jumping

BUNGEE JUMPING describes diving from a high platform with an elastic cord tied to the ankles. The first legal bungee jumping operation in N America is located at the Nanaimo R gorge south of NANAIMO on VANCOUVER ISLAND. Patrons leap from a bridge headfirst into the gorge, plummeting 43 m at speeds up to 50 km/h before the cord snaps them back just before they touch the water. A second jumping operation is at WHISTLER.
