Chase


CHASE, village, pop 2,460 (2001), is at the west end of Little SHUSWAP LK on the TRANS-CANADA HWY, 58 km east of KAMLOOPS. It is named for Whitfield Chase, a carpenter from New York who began ranching and farming there in 1865. A townsite was developed in 1908 by the Adams River Lumber Co, which built what was at that time the largest SAWMILL in the Interior.
