Egmont

EGMONT is a waterfront community straddling the entrance to SECHELT INLET, not far from the ferry terminal at Earls Cove on the SUNSHINE COAST. Its first settler was Joseph Sylvia Simmonds, better known as Joe SILVEY, a VANCOUVER saloonkeeper who moved here in the 1870s. Later settlers engaged mainly in LOGGING and commercial FISHING. A road was built in 1956.
