Elasmosaur


ELASMOSAUR is an extinct marine reptile (a swan lizard) that lived in BC during the Cretaceous era (65–140 million years ago). In 1988 the fossil bones of a 10-m long specimen were found in rocks exposed along the PUNTLEDGE R near COURTENAY on VANCOUVER ISLAND. These Upper Cretaceous rocks have been dated at about 80 million years old.
