Groundbirch

GROUNDBIRCH, a small AGRICULTURAL community on the HART HWY and BC RAIL, 45 km west of DAWSON CREEK in the PEACE R district, no longer has a wheat elevator to serve local farmers but in 1999 was still the site of an RV park and general store. It was first settled about 1920 by Ivor Benterud and Ole Martinsen, and was originally known as Stewart Flats. The Bruce Groner Memorial Museum is located here.
