INOUYE, Kanao "the Kamloops Kid," war criminal (b 1916, Kamloops; d 25 Aug 1947, Hong Kong). After growing up in KAMLOOPS, he went with his mother to Japan in 1935; during the war he worked as a prison camp interpreter and for the Japanese secret service. Harbouring strong resentment against whites who had picked on him when he was a boy in Canada, he sought revenge by brutalizing prisoners under his control.
