KENNEDY, Arthur Edward, third and last governor of Vancouver Island (b 5 Apr 1809, County Down, Ireland; d 3 June 1883, at sea). A veteran of 20 years in the British army, he became an official in the colonial service and was appointed governor of VANCOUVER ISLAND after successful terms in Sierra Leone and Western Australia.
