Main, Lorne


MAIN, Lorne, tennis player (b 9 July 1930, Vancouver; d there 14 Oct 2019). He won the national junior TENNIS championship in 3 consecutive years, then the Canadian senior title before reaching the age of 20. He joined the world professional tour in the early 1950s, reached the third round at Wimbledon and won the Monte Carlo and Belgian singles titles in 1954. He also won doubles tournaments in Florida, Jamaica and Ireland that year. Main represented Canada in Davis Cup play from 1949 to 1955...
