MEEKER, Howard William "Howie," hockey commentator (b 4 Nov 1923, New Hamburg, ON). One of HOCKEY's most famous personalities, he moved to PARKSVILLE in 1977. The former player and coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs opened a popular hockey school in BC and continued his famous "golly-gee-whiz" television colour commentary.
