MORTIFEE, Ann, singer, songwriter (b 30 Nov 1947, Zululand, S Africa). She began her musical career while studying English at UBC, performing as a folk and blues singer-guitarist in VANCOUVER clubs. Her association with the George RYGA play The Ecstasy of Rita Joe brought her to national attention. She co-composed its score in 1967, revised it for a ballet in 1971 and released the album in 1972.
