OVERWAITEA FOOD GROUP  () is a grocery store chain founded by Robert Kidd in NEW WESTMINSTER in 1915. Kidd was an aggressive merchandiser who specialized in discount pricing: the stores' peculiar name derives from Kidd's practice of adding 2 extra ounces (57 grams) to every pound (450 g) of tea he sold ("overweight tea").
