Perry Siding

PERRY SIDING, on the CPR and the Slocan R, 37 km north of CASTLEGAR, was named after C.E. Perry, a railway engineer. Many DOUKHOBORS settled in the area and named their village Persekovoe, Russian for "land of peaches." Hundreds of Sons of Freedom members were arrested at an encampment here in 1953 and sentenced to jail for public nudity.
