Seymour Inlet


SEYMOUR INLET is one of the series of long, narrow FJORDS that indent the mainland coast north of VANCOUVER. Located opposite the top end of VANCOUVER ISLAND, it extends 58 km inland from its entrance via NAKWAKTO RAPIDS. The Seymour R empties into the head of the inlet. It was home to the Nakwaxda'xw band of the KWAKWAKA'WAKW (Kwakiutl) First Nations until they congregated farther south at the village of BLUNDEN HARBOUR in the mid-19th century.
