Daniel Point

Daniel Point (49˚38'00" 124˚04'00" SE entrance to Agamemnon Channel, W side of Sechelt Peninsula, Malaspina Str). Presumably named in association with nearby Pender Hbr after RN hydrographer Daniel Pender, who played an important role on the BC coast, 1857–71, as a marine surveyor. See Pender Canal. Nearby Mt Daniel, known to Sechelt First Nation members as Shélkém, is also named for him. Formerly known as Norman Point (a local name still in use in the 1990s).
