Dare Beach


Dare Beach (48˚37'00" 124˚46'00" N side of Carmanah Point, SW side of Vancouver I), Dare Point (48˚39'00" 124˚48'00" Between Carmanah Point and mouth of Nitinat R). The schooner Dare, under Capt F A Berry, was sailing from San Francisco to Tacoma in Dec 1890 when it was wrecked on Bonilla Point on the W coast of Vancouver I in thick fog. The crew reached shore safely, though the ship broke up in heavy seas. Its home port was North Bend, Oregon.
