Daring Point

Daring Point (53˚59'00" 130˚09'00" SE end of Kennedy I, between Porcher I and mouth of the Skeena R). HMS Daring, launched in 1874, was a 4-gun steam sloop based at Esquimalt on the Pacific Station, 1875–78. The 811-tonne vessel surveyed the entrance to the Skeena R in 1877 under Cdr John Hanmer, who named a number of features in the vicinity after the ship and its officers. The Daring was broken up in 1889.
