Dass Point


Dass Point (52˚52'00" 131˚41'00" SE point of Louise I, off NE Moresby I, QCI). Walter Leach Dass came to the archipelago in 1906 and first prospected in the Jedway area, then acquired a number of mining claims in the Selwyn Inlet region about 1910. He built and managed the first Jedway Hotel and later was skipper of several QCI vessels. In 1918 he married Flora Ellen Cook in Delta. He was still alive in Toronto about 1970. Dass Ck and Dass Lk are also named for him. D
