Davey Islets


Davey Islets (53˚03'00" 131˚59'00" Off N side of Gillatt Arm, Cumshewa Inlet, NE Moresby I, QCI). Cornishman “Cap” Davey was a notary public who ran the land office in Queen Charlotte City in the early days. He also ranched on Maude I and did his share of mining and prospecting. According to QCI historian Kathleen Dalzell, black oystercatchers were known locally for years as “Cap Daveys” because their long scarlet beaks reminded people of the capt’s nose.
