Davy Ledge


Davy Ledge (54˚04'00" 132˚14'00" Off Westacott Point, entrance to Masset Hbr, N side of Graham I, QCI). Named by Capt Frederick Learmonth of the RN survey vessel Egeria after Lt Bishop O M Davy, who surveyed Masset Hbr in 1907, assisted by Lt James Troup and Lt James Harvey. In 1908, Davy was appointed cdr of HMS Sealark and conducted surveys off the coast of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). He had a long career as an RN hydrographer and is listed as co-author of the Arctic Pilot in 1931.
