De Freitas Islets


De Freitas Islets (52˚27'00" 128˚14'00" E side of Mathieson Channel, S of Salmon Bay, N of Bella Bella). Lt Cdr Percival Francis Mayow de Freitas, of Oak Bay, was killed in action Sept 20, 1943, aged 43, aboard HMCS St Croix. The destroyer was escorting a slow-moving convoy in the N Atlantic when it was torpedoed and sunk by a U-boat (U-305).
