Deasy Point


Deasy Point (52˚36'00" 129˚07'00" E end of Clifford Bay, W side of Aristazabal I). Sapper Daniel Deasy (1826–95) was a member of the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers, which served in BC 1858–63. He arrived at Esquimalt in 1859 aboard the Euphrates with his wife, Mary (1832–85), and children, and remained in the colony when the unit was disbanded, receiving the 60-ha military land grant given to men who stayed on.
