Derby Point


Derby Point (49˚31'00" 123˚59'00" N point of S 
Thormanby I, NW of Sechelt, E side of Str of Georgia). The Epsom Derby is a prestigious English horse race, established in 1780 by the Earl of Derby at Epsom Downs in Surrey. Capt George Richards and his officers, aboard RN survey vessel Plumper, gave the area many horse-racing names in 1860 after hearing happy news of that year’s Derby.
