Desbrisay Bay


Desbrisay Bay (52˚47'00" 128˚00'00" N side of Kynoch Inlet, E of Mathieson Channel, N of Bella Bella). Signalman Gordon Montgomery Des Brisay, from Vancouver, was killed in action Sept 20, 1943, aged 19, while serving aboard HMCS St Croix. The destroyer was escorting a slow-moving convoy in the N Atlantic when it was torpedoed and sunk by a U-boat (U-305), with the loss of 65 lives.
