Dibuxante Point


Dibuxante Point (49˚07'31" 123˚42'58" NW point of Valdes I, Gulf Is). Dibuxante—or its modern equivalent, dibujante—is Spanish for “draftsman” and was a subordinate rank on the early Spanish naval vessels that explored the BC coast in the late 18th century. This feature was named for Dibuxante Manuel José Antonio Cardero (often misspelled Cordero), who was a pilot, draftsman and artist on Dionisio Alcalá-Galiano’s 1792 exploration of the Str of Georgia.
