Digby Rock


Digby Rock (52˚30'08" 129˚02'12" Entrance to Weeteeam Bay, SW side of Aristazabal I). Cpl James Digby (1833–60), born in Essex, England, was a member of the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers, which served in BC 1858–63. He was killed in a hunting accident near the engineers’ camp at Sapperton; his gravestone, now at Fraser Cemetery, is the oldest in the district.
