Duck Bay

Duck Bay (48˚53'17" 123˚34'43" N of Vesuvius Bay, NW side of Saltspring I). According to early Saltspring settler William Mouat, this feature was originally known as Dock Bay, named in association with adjacent Dock Point (qv), which has appeared on Admiralty charts since 1865. The bottom of the bay drops off so steeply that it gives the impression of a natural dock. The name, however, became corrupted to Duck Bay.
