Duff Islet


Duff Islet (50˚45'00" 126˚43'00" Off W side of Eden I), Duff Point (50˚45'30" 126˚42'50" NW end of Eden I, E end of Queen Charlotte Str). Duff Point was named in 1792 by Capt George Vancouver after his old friend and shipmate George Duff (1764–1804), who, as 1st lt of HMS Europa, was Vancouver’s senior officer, 1786–89. Duff went to sea early, and by the age of 16 was a lt with 13 naval engagements under his belt. In 1792 he was a cdr and in charge of HMS Martin, a sloop of war...
