Freshwater Bay


Freshwater Bay (50˚36'00" 126˚42'00" S side of Swanson I, Blackfish Sd, SE end of Queen Charlotte Str). European immigrants first settled at this ancient First Nation village site in the early 1900s. A man named Funkly established a floating fish-buying camp, the White Beach Trading Co, there, 1914–24, while ABC Packing Co ran a salmon saltery, 1919–28.
