Rankin Shoals


Rankin Shoals (51˚22'00" 128˚03'00" W of Pearl Rks, Sea Otter Group, off S side of Calvert I, Queen Charlotte Sd). The hydrographic service named this feature in 1947 after D A Rankin, a surveyor who worked aboard the W coast hydrographic vessel William J Stewart, 1941–47. He participated in surveys of the Str of Georgia, the Inside Passage, and Vancouver and Esquimalt harbours.
