Rankine Islands


Rankine Islands (52˚15'00" 131˚03'00" N entrance to Carpenter Bay, off SE end of Moresby I, QCI). Geologist George M Dawson named these islands in 1878 after his younger brother Rankine Dawson (1863–1913), who acted as his assistant on his 1878 exploration of the QCI.
